Joshimath - Some Facts
Joshimath
a place of historic importance, found during the period of 790 to 820 B.C., is
located in the warm lap of bountiful nature is a sacred hill station. This
spiritual abode of Adi Shankaracharya is an ideal health point and a perfect
place of vacation. It is here where Shri Narsingh temple, Navadurga temple,
Garuda temple, Amarkalp tree and Shankaracharya Math enshrine.
Adi
Shankaracharya who hailed from Namboodiri family of Kerala founded a reformed
arya dharma on the basis of reason and logic. He also provided an elaborated
commentary on the Vedanta. He then retired to Jyotirmath from where in Kedarnath
at the early age of thirty-one. Found his peace with god (789 to820 BC).
This
ancient Joshimath of historic importance is centrally located and
accessible to Badrinath Dham (3133 mts) The place where god and man meet. In the
eighth century AD this famous temple was built by Adi Shankaracharya. 44 kms
i.e. 2 hrs drive from Dronagiri. Time required one day Apr to Nov
Lokpal Sri
Hemkund Sahib, Discovered only in 1948, very beautiful nature lake. Surrounded
by snow peaked mountanins. Situated at a height of 4329 mts an ancient well
reputed Kind where the great Sikh Guru Gobind Singh is said to have meditated.
From Dronagiri .16 km by road and 20 km trail on foot, time required 2 days
